Hey there, I’m Jennat just a food-loving soul from Asheville, North Carolina, with a big appetite for creativity and a serious soft spot for step-by-step cooking. I’m 42, and I’ve been on this culinary ride for what feels like my whole life, even though I only truly dove in when I was in my late twenties. Before that? I was an elementary school teacher with a habit of turning lesson plans into potluck menus.

My kitchen journey started in my grandma’s house, where the scent of her Sunday pot roast could stop time. She never used recipes just instinct and love. I was completely hooked. I’ll never forget my first attempt at homemade biscuits they came out hard as rocks, more suitable for a puck than a plate. We couldn’t stop laughing, tears and all. That moment taught me something essential: creativity in the kitchen doesn’t mean perfection. It means exploration, joy, and a willingness to mess up sometimes.
I picked up a lot along the way, but what really stayed with me was this: I didn’t care much for the showy stuff. What mattered most to me were the kitchens where the food had soul where the ingredients were fresh, the flavors honest, and there was space to be a little messy and creative. It just wouldn’t let me go. So I decided to give it a real shot.I signed up for a small culinary school down in Atlanta. Nothing fancy. No glossy brochure or celebrity chef instructors just a solid, hands-on place where you spent more time actually cooking than talking about it. And that’s exactly what I needed.
After I finished, I jumped headfirst into restaurant kitchens. I wanted to try it all. Some places were down-home and warm, others were sleek and intimidating, where everything had to be plated with tweezers. I learned a lot, sure but the biggest thing I realized? I didn’t need the fancy flair. I felt most at home in kitchens where the food did the talking. No smoke and mirrors, just good ingredients, real flavors, and the freedom to experiment without overthinking it.
These days, I work out of my home kitchen part test lab, part creative haven. It’s where I tinker with recipes, film tutorials, and share the kind of dishes I wish someone had shown me when I was just starting out. I love taking what’s hot TikTok-famous dishes, nostalgic comfort food, viral trends and giving it a twist that feels like me. A splash of lemon where you least expect it, a spice that pulls from my travels, or a forgotten method from a 1950s cookbook it’s all fair game.

Outside the kitchen, I’m often in the garden, sketching recipes, or rummaging through thrift stores for old cookbooks with scribbled notes in the margins. I believe food is more than fuel it’s memory, culture, and joy rolled into one.
If you’re here because food lights you up too, whether you’re new to chopping onions or already making your own kombucha you’re absolutely welcome. I’ll walk with you step by step. Let’s make something delicious, creative, and completely us. Mistakes? Part of the fun. Laughter? Non-negotiable.
